Privacy 108 Now Offering AIGP Training Courses

We are a proud partner of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). We’ve helped hundreds of professionals across Australia and beyond earn their CIPP/E, CIPM, and CIPT certifications.

Today, we are thrilled to announce a significant new addition to our training offering:

Privacy 108 is now an official provider for the IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) training.

Bridging the AI Governance Gap

There is a growing sense of frustration with the government’s hands-off approach to AI. We’ve already seen the documented harms of unchecked AI, yet we’re still prioritizing “economic imperatives” and the interests of Big Tech over the rights of the people using these tools. (More on this here.)

So, with the government taking a backseat approach, more organisations should be considering how to solve their own AI governance gaps.

Our new AIGP course is designed to help privacy professionals close that gap. It’s designed to help you turn complex, high-level AI governance questions into actionable strategies that you can implement within your organisation.

Why AIGP? The New Gold Standard

The AIGP curriculum was developed by a panel of AI and governance experts to provide the baseline knowledge required to respond to the complex risks of the evolving AI landscape. The course is structured into seven units that guide you from foundational concepts to advanced strategies:

1. Foundations of Artificial Intelligence

You will gain an overview of different types of AI systems, their various use cases, and how these models fit into a broader socio-cultural context.

2. AI Impacts and Responsible Principles

You will learn the characteristics of trustworthy AI and the essential principles for responsible and ethical implementation, including fairness, safety, reliability, and human-centricity.

3. AI Governance and Risk Management

You will learn about the practical details of building a governance program, including:

  • Defining roles and responsibilities for stakeholders.
  • Establishing cross-functional collaboration.
  • Identifying and managing risks throughout the AI life cycle.
  • Creating training and awareness programs for your organization.

4. AI Regulation and the EU AI Act

You will learn about risk classification frameworks (prohibited, high-risk, limited, and minimal-risk), enforcement mechanisms, and penalties for non-compliance.

5. Intersecting Laws: Privacy, IP, and Beyond

You will learn about laws that govern AI applications, including:

  • Data Privacy: How notice, consent, and data minimization apply to AI models.
  • Intellectual Property: Prohibitions or limits on using data for AI training.
  • Consumer Protection: Laws prohibiting unfair or deceptive practices.
  • Non-Discrimination: How laws apply to AI in employment, credit, and housing contexts.

6. Governing AI Development

This course covers data collection, architecture and model selection, and establishing data lineage and provenance.

7. Governing AI Deployment and Use

You will learn to evaluate vendor agreements, perform AI impact assessments, and conduct continuous monitoring to ensure ongoing performance and safety.
