Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) is almost on us – this year running  from the 4th – 10th May 2026.  The theme for 2026 theme is Trust is built here – In every privacy complaint. In every resolution.

Privacy Complaints

The PAW focus on privacy complaints is interesting. Our experience is that complaints and other requests from data subjects in Australia are definitely on the rise. However, this has clearly put an additional burden on the Office of the Australian Information (OAIC). We cover more about privacy complaints, the OAIC’s regulatory direction, the move to place more responsibility on agencies and organisations for dispute resolution here.

AI Governance Resources and AIGP Training

Privacy 108’s focus for PAW 2026 is largely on AI – from an AI governance perspective, as well as building your skills via obtaining the AIGP certification.

Our AI related activities and deliverables include:

  • Our post on AI Ethical Principles covers all the main sources to help you identify the ethical AI principles best suited to your organisation – recognising that AI principles are the starting point for most AI governance programs.
  • We’ve also put together a 1-page downloadable on AI Ethical Principles. You can request a copy of that downloadable here.
  • We’ve scheduled new dates for our online training for the IAPP’s AIGP Certification, to be delivered by Dr Jodie Siganto. More information here.
  • We’ve released a new post on how to prepare for the AIGP exam here.

Privacy Act Reform, AI, Social Media Platforms and other Digital Regulation in Australia

For Privacy Awareness Week, Dr Jodie Siganto will deliver a live webinar on digital regulation in Australia – seen through the lens of privacy reform and AI and social media platform regulation.
