About Tom

Tom is a data protection specialist with an extensive background in privacy consulting, policy, and research. He has substantial experience with developing practical and clear privacy advice for clients across a range of industries including government, not-for-profit, healthcare, technology, travel, and higher education.

Prior to joining Privacy 108, Tom worked on the Australian Government’s review of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and in the Information Law Branch in the Attorney General’s Department. He has also worked in the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and as a research assistant within the Queensland University of Technology law school. He has published peer-reviewed journal articles on the application of Australia’s product liability laws to automated vehicle defects and the Consumer Data Right scheme within the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
